Social policy state of play

Article Abstract:

The status of various old and new legislative social policy proposals for passing in the European Parliament have been furnished. Two proposals adopted during the first part of 2002, i.e., one meant to protect employees during the bankruptcy of their employer and the other providing protection to workers from noise (yet to be published in the OJ) have also been described. Various other new proposals that would be to be taken up in 2003 have been mentioned.

Greece: lifelong learning legislation

Article Abstract:

The Greek parliament adopted a new law on linking vocational training with employment at the end of October 2003. One of the principle aims behind the legislation was the co-ordination and organization of the systems of secondary vocational training, initial training and continuing training.

New social dialogue legislation

Article Abstract:

The government of Greece has adopted new employment and social dialogue legislation. The new legislation is designed to bolster and revamp labor market policy design's procedural aspects.
