Staying out of trouble

Article Abstract:

The fiduciary responsibilities of pension planners under the Employment Retirement Income Security Act are complicated. The regulations are worded in such a way that the burden of proof is transferred from the Dept. of Labor to the plan fiduciary. Furthermore, the regulations are not that straightforward. Fiduciaries should hire professional investment managers since they will be judged against these standards. Documentation is needed to demonstrate how a decision was reached and the continued screening of decision results.

Using and owning institutional asset class funds also guarantee more returns. In addition, optimum combination of asset class investments should be chosen.
