Strategic planning pays off

Article Abstract:

Companies involved in strategic planning often forget to include human resources professionals in the decision-making process, but personnel planning efforts can help to successfully implement some of the profit-increasing efforts. Personnel professionals can assist with the parts of the strategic plan that involve employee training, benefits, and safety, which are traditional human resources areas, but they can also help plan such things as organizational development, corporate culture, incentives and ownership rewards, communication, and productivity.

Documentation: just the facts

Article Abstract:

Documentation is an important part of personnel management and can prevent legal problems, but it is also crucial that personnel professionals establish and follow documentation policies because poor documentation can easily create significant legal difficulties for a company. Steps to developing documentation management include: keeping facts accurate; including backup material to substantiate documentation; and generating written records of employees' performances carefully.
