Article Abstract:

Effective communications and workforce involvement in health and safety is recognized as being critical to health and safety management as is seen by the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) as having a direct influence in shaping safety success in the UK waste industry. The waste industry requires effective safety communications to be communicated by management and supervisors to workers and visitors for reducing the hazards that are found to be responsible for injurious, serious accidents and fatalities.

Running the risk

Article Abstract:

Various factors that one should consider when undertaking a risk assessment for disabled workers along with the adjustments that one needs to make for disabled workers in the workplace are described. To carry out a risk assessment for a disabled worker, a health and safety manager should be prepared to investigate and spend time resolving the issues that face the worker.

A step-by-step guide to good practice for reducing musculoskeletal injury in the wrist and hand is given. Some of the products that are available to reduce injury to the hand and the wrist and their effectiveness in preventing injuries are examined.
