The Shifting Focus of the Personnel Function

Article Abstract:

The focus in personnel management has shifted radically from finding and training to excluding and exiting applicants. The author makes nine personal assumptions as leaner, more tightly controlled, tougher, and performance-oriented. Four shifts in tasks for personnel managers are discussed. These deal with the corporate process, resources, 'exiting' rather than 'entrancing', and reward systems.
