White-collar reactions to job insecurity and the role of the psychological contract: implications for human resource management

Article Abstract:

Whether employees who feel insecure about their jobs exhibit more self-interest and less loyalty to their companies is discussed, also whether those who view such insecurity as a violation of their psychological contract have more severe reactions to the insecurity. The importance of knowledgeable human resource professionals in informing companies about this issue and helping to minimize negative outcomes is highlighted.
