The politics of HRM: waiting for Godot in the Moroccan civil service

Article Abstract:

The case study using the framework of strategic human resource management finds that the lack of contemporary human resource management (HRM) practices and the influences of the past French rule are the reasons for under development in the field of HRM in Morocco. The centralized, imperialistic political power system of the country also casts its shadow on the HRM practices of the public and private sector.

Towards a strategic model of employment reform in developing countries: explaining and remedying experience to date

Article Abstract:

The literature relating to employment reform in developing countries and to downsizing in industrialized country firms is presented. It is argued that employment reform is a key issue within international human resource management research. Most of the sources are found to highlight the need for a strategy-based model of reform, rather than a cost-based one.

Limits to strategic HRM: the case of the Mauritian civil service

Article Abstract:

The effect of the strategic human resource management (SHRM) model on organizational performance and the relationship between public staff management and economic growth in the civil service of Mauritius is studied. The study reveals that the SHRM model would need to permit the creative piecemeal adaptation in relation to performance management in Mauritius.
