Traditional GICs
Article Abstract:
The many advantages of the traditional guaranteed investment contract (GIC) shall serve to redeem the product's current unpopularity in the market. Employers that sponsor pension plans are increasingly favoring alternative GICs above the traditional GIC, the insurance industry's original pension product. Thus, various products, such as separate account GICs and bonds, are being offered to pension plan sponsors. However, traditional GICs offer workers the desired pension protection which will prove the product's worth in the long run.
