Collision avoidance and the high-tech trucker

Article Abstract:

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration plans to reduce highway collisions through the use of collision-avoidance systems similar to those used by aircraft. Large fleet operations, such as trucking firms, have begun using this technology. The high cost of these systems prevents them from being used in family cars. High-technology safety systems can alert truck drivers to hazardous situations, record information on 'black boxes' and provide such evasive actions as automatic braking.

Secure business premises by limiting access

Article Abstract:

There are a number of methods businesses can use to ensure their premises are secure. Limiting access, especially during non-business hours, should begin with making sure all entrances and exits have strong doors, preferably made of metal. Other strong tactics include installing a central station burglar alarm, dead-bolt locks and bars around windows. Other types of installations that can help the underwriter determine the security of a particular business are discussed.

Christmas trees, wreaths and other displays situated close to temporary wiring pose an extra fire hazard, they also increase the possibility of personal injury and tort liability.
