Don't forget the underwriter

Article Abstract:

Reducing new policy and underwriting costs have become an obsession with property/casualty insurers striving to stay competitive in a highly competitive market. The competitiveness of an insurer's pricing is drastically impacted by underwriting, which has come to represent a significant part of the expenses related to all first-year policies. To ensure that underwriting costs remain manageable, agents must process applications correctly from the start.

Putting paper in its place

Article Abstract:

Transactional filing, used in conjunction with a computerized database, is an efficient way of organizing most insurance documents. Transactional filing systems store documents by date, rather than by customer. It saves filing time, and information can be restored easily in the event of a computer malfunction. Master customer files are still needed, however, for documents such as applications, appraisals and financial statements.
