Dual career paths: recognizing the technical contributor

Article Abstract:

Technical employees have skills and abilities different from those of corporate managers. Corporations must realize the value that these technical workers bring to the company in terms of technology and product development. To encourage further managerial and technical skill improvement, dual career paths must be planned for them. Companies which present career alternatives for their employees will be more successful in recruitment, reduce employee turnover, maximize employee contribution, decrease management expenses and increase corporate productivity.

Why stock ownership is a better incentive than stock options

Article Abstract:

Majority of major US corporations offer stock options to their executives. This fringe benefit, however, may not be economically advisable to lower-paid employees because they need money to exercise the option as well as to pay for the taxes related to the option. These employees are also at the mercy of the fluctuations in stock price. Stockownership, on the other hand, is a better incentive to employees as compared tostock options. Companies should consider providing stock ownership plans to promote employee loyalty and commitment.
