The Accuracy of Leadership Ratings: A Cognitive Categorization Perspective

Article Abstract:

Leadership qualities are often assessed by use of questionnaires, which rely on the memory and behavioral judgements of the rater. These rating methods have been the target of criticism. Cognitive categorization may provide a useful description of the leadership perception process. The experiment conducted here indicates that there are potentially serious limitations to the accuracy of leadership questionnaires.

Individual Differences in Response to Unfavorable Group Feedback

Article Abstract:

This study examined individual's responses to unfavorable group feedback. Repression is one way of coping: denying the existence of a potential threat, and not expressing anxiety. Sensitization is another coping behavior: amplifying the threat and expressing anxiety. Repression- sensitization (R-S) constructs are used to examine coping behavior and predict impact on morale and performance.
