Getting aggressive about road rage

Article Abstract:

A survey reveals that one-third of the 6.84 million crashes and two-thirds of the 41,907 traffic fatalities in 1996 alone are attributed to aggressive driving. Due to the high rise of incidents involving hostile driving, insurers together with the Coalition for Consumer Health and Safety have launched a national safe-driving campaign. Analysts however say that although this education program gives considerable number of advantages, the key to significantly curtail aggressive driving is to implement strict driving laws and policies.

Insurer network pacts offer affordable care

Article Abstract:

Health insurance companies should develop community practice health care networks to achieve cost accountability. Such a system would consist of vertically integrated health care delivery based on local networks. One drawback of the community practice network is that the insurer would be an indirect manager of health services and could be liability for a number of problems, including medical malpractice. The pros and cons of using such a medical delivery system are discussed.

Underwriting losses improve unexpectedly

Article Abstract:

Health and accident underwriting losses were less in 1993, breaking the typical cycle of three years of losses, then three years with a small amount of profitability before more profitable years begin again. Some industry analysts believe that streamlining efforts the health care system took may have improved underwriting profits, or because insurers took on preferred provider organizations, fee-based operations or administration services.
