Global Outlook

Article Abstract:

Different aspects of the insurances markets in both the UK and Argentina are discussed. The London Insurance Market Committee has been formed in response to a long-felt need in the insurance industry to create a body that will coordinate a UK market strategy. The former Argentine state reinsurer, INdeR, has sharply decreased its market payments after liquidating in 1992 and subsequent lawsuits still abound in the courts. A new compulsory worker's compensation law was passed by Argentina's parliament which will become effective in Apr 1996.
