Health care: will employer-provided health benefits disappear by 2010?

Article Abstract:

A futuristic perspective of employer-provided health benefits, is presented. This is likely to get highly influenced by certain forces such as rising costs, rewards perspectives, shift to account based approaches, monetizing the health benefits commitment, the ownership society, web-enabled marketplace, new perspective of risk pooling, and the inevitability of consumerism. An overview of each of these is presented.

Retiree health benefits at the crossroads

Article Abstract:

Retiree health benefits are available means for employers to manage their costs, enhance the security of redesigned benefits, and mitigate some of their potential legal exposure. The current state of retiree benefits are summarized and the key funding alternatives and related tax rules applicable to such benefits are explored.
