Article Abstract:

The UK greeting card market is forecast to increase from 960 million pounds sterling in 1998 to 989 million pounds sterling by 2003. Card buying is more popular amongst working women, while celebratory events, such as Valentine's Day and Mother's Day produce up to 14% of the yearly sales for greeting card companies. Cards celebrating the Millennium are expected to boost sales during the Christmas period of 1999, as people begin to dwell on the past and future.

Kerosene Heaters

Article Abstract:

Guidelines for the safe use of kerosene heaters are presented. Many states are regulating the use of these heaters. Product changes have been recommended. Adequate ventilation is a necessity when using kerosene heaters. These heaters can cause serious burns, fires and explosions. They should be placed away from furniture and draperies. Insurer use recommendations are included.

Recent offerings in books, movies and the theater allow the middle class to precariously experience a romanticized version of street culture. Several are analyzed. They are the book-to film, 'Trainspotting,' the play 'Rent,' and the movie-to video, 'Kids.' They are all popular with the bourgeoisie.
