Lost in space

Article Abstract:

Satellite insurance companies are concerned that the increase in number of artificial satellites and space debris could multiply the risks of space collision and losses for the market. However, the Space Command asserts that the situation is not as bad as the industry pictures it to be. The UK's Defense Research Agency claims that the projected increase in satellite launches could increase the risk for orbital collisions. The satellite industry aims to address the issue by working for an international agreement to limit space debris and search for means of disposing of space junks.

Rough air ahead

Article Abstract:

The global aviation insurance industry is balking at having to ensure the superjumbo jets which are likely to come onto the airline market to fulfill growing air passenger needs. The cost of these planes, priced anywhere between $200 mil and $400 mil, compounded by the liability risks attached to their passenger content of around a thousand passengers, could make for potential airline and aerospace insurance claims of billions of dollars.
