Old gas plants fuel new claims

Article Abstract:

Gas manufacturing plants that operated up until the 1950s are causing new claims to be filed with insurers. The producers or their successors, in an attempt to escape liability for cleanup of the polluted area by federal and state agencies, are filing liability claims with their insurers. Defense against a gas manufacturing plant liability claim requires an insurer to asses the insured's liability, complete an analysis of the site to determine when the pollution occurred and to acquire as much information about the site as possible.
