The case for 401(k) plan participants of investing in stock indices instead of individual stocks or managed funds

Article Abstract:

Many drawbacks are apparent for 401(k) participants when they invest their retirement funds in the individual stocks offered by their plans or in managed funds of their 401(k) mutual fund family. The solution seems to be investing their equity portions in index funds or in unit trusts such as QQQ, the Diamond or SPDR, as these offer better returns on the invested funds and may become very popular with 401(k) participants over time.
