What will agency systems be like in 10 years?

Article Abstract:

Advanced computer systems and communications technology will change the nature of work and redefine employee roles at insurance agencies by the year 2006. Teleconferencing and televideo equipment will make it possible for agency executives and client representatives to discuss and close deals without displacing themselves. Similarly, tailored computer programs will automatically carry out the underwriting tasks performed by agency personnel, thus limiting employees to performing a sales-counselling role.

Fault tolerant computers keep you going and going

Article Abstract:

A fault-tolerant computer system can provide an insurance organization 99.98% availability, .98% more than that provided by a high-availability system. But that seemingly small difference can translate into large savings. Those savings result from increased productivity, improved data integrity and enhanced customer goodwill. Oklahoma City-based C.L. Frates and Co, an independent insurance agency, uses a fault-tolerant system supplied by Sequoia Systems.

What factors should be considered in an upgrade?

Article Abstract:

There is no magic formula an insurance agency can use to determine if an automation upgrade is warranted. Through competitive and strategic planning, agencies should determine where they stand and where they want to go and should develop an appropriate plan for getting where they want to go. Agencies should compare the benefits and costs of upgrading their current system to the benefits and costs of purchasing a new system.
