When the recruiter calls

Article Abstract:

Techniques for handling phone and group interviews when job searching were recommended. In job interviews, the aim must be to convince the recruiter that the hiring authority will be pleased with one's application. Since recruiters usually make first contact through the telephone, it is suggested that phones must be kept accessible. When the interview conducted over the phone is a group interview, it is suggested that the interviewee ask the name of each interviewer prior to each question, as in a panel interview wherein knowing the name and position of each interviewer is imperative.

People may need people, but do they need personnel?

Article Abstract:

The human resources function has been criticized as a dispensable part of the corporate structure. Some experts even claim that key human resources functions, such as benefits design and administration, management of information systems and workers' compensation administration, among others, must be outsourced to lessen corporate liability against regulatory claims. To counter criticisms against their possible use as a 'business partner' and a strong financial support to the company, practitioners must exploit their consulting function to the senior management group.

Helping shy human resources executives conduct more effective job searches

Article Abstract:

The field of human resource (HR) management appeals to many shy people. This is contrary to the common belief that personnel managers are naturally outgoing and sociable. Given their fear of being rejected by others, shy HR professionals are likely to be scared by the idea of a job search. Networking is often recommended for people looking for work, but this approach may be inappropriate for shy individual because it will require them to put themselves 'on the line' with other people. A better alternative is conducting aggressive targeting mail campaigns.
