Gandhian philosophy, conflict resolution theory and practical approaches to negotiation

Article Abstract:

The manner in which the philosophy of Mahatma Gandhi can be related to conflict resolution theory is examined, focusing on how and why the two disciplines are part of a larger whole. Topics include Gandhi's technique of nonviolent activism, "satagraha"; the historical failure to link Gandhi with conflict resolution literature; alternative dispute resolutions; and the manner in which Gandhi related conflict resolution to a search for a higher truth.
