Muslim democrats in Turkey?

Article Abstract:

The Justice and Development Party (JDP) had been formed as a result of a split in the Turkish Islamist movement, and swept to power with a massive majority. After the elections, Turkish and foreign pundits keenly discussed what the JDP victory meant for the future of democracy in Turkey and the country's traditionally pro-Western foreign policy.

Building the new Iraq: the role of intervening forces

Article Abstract:

Intervening forces helped Iraqis to build a power-sharing system, reform Iraq's military and transform the regional security environment. The coalition forces must prepare to keep a large troop presence in the country as they have a big job on their hands to maintain peace, and help them to build a new and better Iraq.

Uncertain partners: NGOs and the military

Article Abstract:

Issues concerning the relationship between non-governmental organizations and the military during the 1990s are discussed. The cost in time, money and human life has been great as the military has not used the expertise of relief agencies effectively.
