Neo-statism in Third World studies: a critique
Article Abstract:
This article examines the weaknesses of developmental autonomous states and the power of societal forces, which often conflict with the state's purposes. The author focuses on the state-society duality in developing countries using community perspective to contribute to an understanding of that relationship within the neo-statist paradigm.

Premature democracies, the promotion of development and political-cultural factors
Article Abstract:
The survival of democracies that have been formed between 1950 and 1980 is essentially determined by cooperation between civil, military, environment and external culture. This finding opposes the traditional position that socioeconomic development is the key to democratization.
