Stealing from the past: globalisation, strategic formation and the use of indigenous intellectual property in the biotechnology industry

Article Abstract:

This article examines the rapid growth of the biotechnology industry and the impact the industry has had on developing countries. The authors argue that the biotechnology firms have created strategic alliances with governments and have exploited the natural resources of the third world without offering anything back to the communities.

Lebanon and Bosnia-Herzegovina are multireligious countries and have been subject to similar tensions. These include the destructive influence of neighboring countries, economic crisis, and fragmentation of politics along religious and national lines.
