A legal director stars in Hollywood

Article Abstract:

Robert Brada, the exec vice pres and general counsel of Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Inc, the noted film producer and distributor, views the copyright and trademark dispute with Sony since Sony started its own James Bond film franchise in 1997 as a major challenge. MGM claims sole ownership of the Bond character's film and television rights and claims that Sony timed its announcement to coincide with MGM's initial stock offering. The dispute with Sony and Marvel Comics over rights to turn the "Spider-Man" comic books into a motion picture was also important.
