AALS Conference's stargazers look into more diverse future

Article Abstract:

The Assn of American Law Schools (AALS) held its annual convention in Jan 1993 and the theme was cultural diversity. Cultural diversity among law students and in the curriculum promises to be an important issue for the academy in the 21st century. By 2050, the percentage of minorities in the US population should have climbed to 48% from its present 20%. Minorities now comprise about 15% of law school enrollments and may reach 25-45% as the general population becomes more diverse.

AALS group attempts to devise model sexual harassment rules

Article Abstract:

The section on Women in Legal Education of the Assn of American Law Schools is working on model sexual harassment rules for law schools in the hope that schools can then use them to create more complete policies of their own. Some law schools believe a policy should also address harassment which occurs for other reasons, such as minority status. Karen Czapanskiy, a professor from the University of Maryland School of Law, chairs the section.
