Are computer terminals zapping workers' health?

Article Abstract:

Working in a computerized office can lead to various health problems. Studies linking video display terminals' electromagnetic radiation to cancer and miscarriages are not conclusive but do indicate some cause for concern. Computer vendors face the dilemma that marketing low-emission terminals billed as safer designs implies that their earlier products were unsafe. Although many employees who use computers regularly suffer from repetitive stress injuries, some employers are reluctant to spend money helping with ergonomic furniture and stress-reduction training.

Industry preaches green but is far from clean

Article Abstract:

The Earth Summit had a number of corporate participants trying to pass themselves off as environmentally concerned. The International Network for Environmental Management has corporate members with a purportedly environmental agenda. The World Bank, long the target of environmentalists for its funding of hazardous projects, was removed from the Earth Summit. The biotechnology industry poses potentially great environmental risks and received Bush administration support at the Earth Summit with Bush's refusal to sign the biodiversity agreement.

How energy deregulation is zapping the little guy; subsidies help pay corporate America's energy bill

Article Abstract:

Deregulation has spawned public utility subsidies to corporations, which will increase monthly bills for the average citizen. The utilities argue this incentive is necessary so corporations will not cease contributing to infrastructure and take their business to a competitor. Deregulation in the energy industry appears unstoppable since this industry has few consumer advocates or lobbyists trying to stop discount contracts.
