The danger of failure to notify a professional liability carrier of a possible mistake by the lawyer is discussed. Experts say this may jeopardize malpractice insurance coverage in the event of a lawsuit.

Balancing free press and fair trial; new National Judicial College facility seeks to boost judiciary-media relations

Article Abstract:

The National Judicial College's National Center for Courts and the Media is discussed and is devoted to exploring the tension between the First Amendment right to a free press and the Sixth Amendment right to a fair trial. The training of journalists who cover the courts will also take place at the center.

Ethics vs. accountability; attorney-client privilege at core of refusal to comply with LSC audit

Consequences of the Legal Service Corp's (LSC) threatened audit of Baltimore and New York City legal services lawyers are discussed. These lawyers claim disclosures would violate the attorney-client privilege, and the LSC has promised not to discontinue funding while considering the bars' appeals.
