The emergence of Northern Virginia as a challenger to California's Silicon Valley in its concentration of high-technology industry is discussed. Law firms specializing in this area of the law have followed the high technology industry there.

Issues regarding the dip in high technology stocks in mid-2000 are discussed. Attorneys specializing in work for this industry are confident that the dip will not affect their work.Business-to-business and Infrastructure companies speeding data transmission or improving data compression will have the least difficulty securing funding as venture capitalists become more selective.

Issues are discussed regarding the emergence of emigration and immigration law as a popular specialty in the legal profession. Good times for the US economy have fueled the need for foreign workers, and each time lawmarkers increase the number of immigrants allowed they also make the requirements for hiring foreign workers more complex.
