Competition policy

Article Abstract:

The European Commission is making significant changes to its policy towards restrictive clauses in agreements connecting companies along a supply chain. Many business leaders believe that the Commission's real target is market-dominating positions as such, rather than individual agreements. There is likely to be considerable conflict over the definition of market dominance in the near future. Later in 1999, the Commission will issue a draft regulation creating a single block exemption applicable to all forms of vertical agreements.
