Cosby trial set to start with media tethered; judge avoids O.J. Simpson 'media circus' by gag orders and a ban on court cameras

Article Abstract:

The trial of Mikail Markasev, Ennis Cosby's alleged killer, is sure to have as much media interest as the O.J. Simpson trial and the judge has yielded to prosecutorial efforts to prevent publicity by issuing a blanket sealing order which media lawyers have protested. Given the secrecy surrounding the case, the frustrated press corps has had no alternative but to attend the proceedings to get the first reliable story of the attempted robbery and murder. The crime happened when Cosby was changing his car's tire on a dark road not far from his parents' home.

O.J. custody judge targeted; California judge who ruled on custody case now is subject of recall campaign

Article Abstract:

A judicial recall campaign has been mounted against Orange County Superior Court Judge Nancy Wieben Stock, who granted acquitted wife-murderer O.J. Simpson custody of his 2 children instead of his dead wife's parents. Some attorneys feel the issue is not the judge but the law and one has talked a state assembly member into introducing a law which would bar parents guilty of severe conjugal violence from obtaining child custody.

Cosby murder case has L.A.'s court sealing files; but an appeal court ruled the judge must justify his blanket order

Article Abstract:

A decision by the California Court of Appeal in the Ennis Cosby murder case holds that the Superior Court must either vacate or justify its order sealing all of the case's documents, thus thwarting the court's effort to keep the matter secret and avoid the circus atmosphere of the O.J. Simpson case. Ennis Cosby was actor Bill Cosby's only son and was murdered while changing a tire near Los Angeles.
