Article Abstract:

Corporate counsel retains its edge over outside law firms despite the leaner and more competitive stance many firms have assumed in the past two decades. In-house lawyers can offer service better tailored to their employer's needs at a competitive or superior economic cost and with better predictability. They are also at the leading edge of change regarding technology and other aspects of the profession in the greatest flux. An in-house position is in many ways the most exciting available to business lawyers.
