Expert on expert; better than textbook advice, the real-life advice of top litigators provides winning strategies for using (and maybe slightly abusing) expert witnesses at trial

Article Abstract:

A lawyer's handling of an expert witness in a tort case has grown in importance, and four Chicago lawyers with extensive experience in the area give their suggestions. They are James D Montgomery, Patricia C Bobb, Robert A Clifford, and Miles J Zaremski, and all but Zaremski are plaintiffs lawyers. Topics covered include choosing, preparing and paying the expert and the ethics of using experts.

Four trial lawyers from different legal specialties including medical malpractice and white collar crimes discuss necessary trial preparation during the last month. Discussion includes last-minute preparation of exhibits, preparing the client, jury selection and making an effective opening statement.
