Environmental determinants of organizational ethical climate: a community perspective

Article Abstract:

The influence of community norms and values in shaping the ethical perceptions of employees has been studied. Data were collected using a 36-item survey that delved on determinants of ethical values, workplace fairness and issues involving rank within the organization. Results indicate that community-based microcultures have a significant impact on the cultures of businesses. This finding is quite peculiar since research on organizational culture have ignored external forces operating on businesses.

Group processes and performance and their effects on individuals' ethical frameworks

Article Abstract:

The extent of how groups affect the ethical predispositions of individuals was examined. Findings show that groups play a significant role in molding the ethical framework of an individual. Researchers found that individuals involved in groups manifested a change in both formalist and utilitarian tendencies while individuals who are not involved in groups showed consistency in both formalism and utilitarianism.
