Getting wired: implementing a small office network (part II)

Article Abstract:

An example of how to create a file server for a small office network is discussed. The office will use an old file server as the backup server, adding a new system to act as the main server. Parity-checking RAM is installed, since it allows users to verify that the data and applications saved in DRAM are accurate. The more common EDO RAM lacks error-correcting as well as parity-checking abilities. Parity RAM can only be used with servers that use the Intel Triton II 430HX chipset. The file server uses SCSI hard drives, and a SCSI adapter is installed for each type of device. For example, one adapter is used with the hard drives, while another is used with the slower CD-ROM and tape drives, and a third is used with the optical drives. The file server also includes a power supply with cooling functions, an uninterruptible power supply and surge protection. A VGA color monitor is also installed.

Go fully digital-almost: steps toward reaching the goal of a paperless office

Article Abstract:

An electronically organized office and litigation practice gives you substantial operational and cost-effective benefits.
