Healthy dose of business; law firms jump for health care clients

Article Abstract:

Law firms specializing in health care law or lobbying are working to attract clients in anticipation of the legislative battle when the presidential task force's health care reform proposal reaches the Congress. Some firms are confident enough of increased health care law work during the next decade that they are increasing personnel in that segment of their practice and marketing their expertise at seminars. Health care lobbyists say lobbying makes good business sense because the expertise gained will enable them to give good advice to clients on the regulations which ultimately come out.

Toughest state RICO on ropes; lawsuits target in Ariz

Article Abstract:

The state legislature of Arizona is passing a bill to give judges the power to decide if plaintiffs who win civil racketeering cases receive treble damages. The bill would also impose a higher burden of proof and cut the statute of limitations. The bill is favored by business groups including banking, insurance, securities, Dial Corp and America West Airlines. Critics see the bill as the defeat of racketeering law in the state.
