At last the Second Corporate Law Simplification Bill

Article Abstract:

The Second Corporate Law Simplification Bill was revived in the Australian Parliament as the Company Law Review Bill. The aim is to streamline and modernize share capital provisions and reduce costs for companies. Australia will join other countries by eliminating par value, only one form will be required for company registration with the securities commission, and companies will be able to use electronic media for meetings.

The access regime in the courts -- ensuring the access regime works as widely as potentially possible!

Article Abstract:

The access regime under Australia's Trade Practices Act is discussed with respect to Rail Access Corp. v. The New South Wales Minerals Council Ltd., in which the Council's application for access to a rail line administered by the Rail Access was denied. Rail Corp not a "Government coal carrying service" within the meaning of s. 78 of the Competition Policy Reform.
