The working life of Barry Richard, George W. Bush's chief litigator in his litigation contesting the Florida vote count in the presidential election of 2000, is profiled. Richard logged 2,752 TV appearances and was repeatedly summoned by the Bush people to appear at press conferences.

Health law boom; DOJ's fraud crusade has boosted health care lawyer numbers

Article Abstract:

Constant increase and change in the consolidation of the health care industry and increased enforcement of Medicare abuse and fraud have resulted in a number of important trends, including at least at least eight large-firm health practices doubling their size since 1993 with a proportionate increase in firm revenues for health care work, increased hiring of former government attorneys from the Department of Justice and the Department of Health and Human Services, and a drastically changed practice for health care lawyers.
