Is criminal Bhopal case in store?

Article Abstract:

The Indian government is trying to extradite the former chairman of Union Carbide Corp to appear at a criminal trial on homicide charges stemming form the 1984 Bhopal gas leak disaster. US legal experts say that despite an extradition treaty with India, it is unlikely that Warren M. Anderson will appear in an Indian court. Union Carbide claims that when the company agreed to the Bhopal cases being tried under Indian jurisdiction, it assumed there would be no criminal trials. A $470 million civil settlement has already been reached and upheld.

Implant makers, insurers feud

Article Abstract:

Manufacturers of breast implants are feuding with their insurers over their coverage for damages resulting from litigation. Litigation has thus far involved Dow Corning and Mentor Corp, both manufacturers of implants, and their insurers. Both companies are charging their insurers with failure to provide defense and indemnity coverage. It is likely that the Mentor Corp will settle out of court as part of its global settlement with implant victims.
