Microsoft defense in trouble; key witnesses stumble under David Boies' deft cross-examination tactics

Article Abstract:

Defense witnesses in the Microsoft Corp antitrust trial stumbled under lead government lawyer David Boies' cross-examination. Boies has taken full advantage of mistakes made by Microsoft's defense team, led by William Neukom and New York's Sullivan and Cromwell. Boies' cross-examination got Paul Maritz, the most senior Microsoft defense witness, to admit that Microsoft's pressure on Netscape to use Windows technologies was designed to render it a competitive non-threat.
