Just say no; two key initiatives stall in House of Delegates at annual meeting

Article Abstract:

The ABA's House of Delegates failed to reach agreement on two issues of great interest to members when they met at the 1993 annual meeting. These were the authorization of a membership referendum on the propriety of the ABA's pro choice policy and facilitating greater participation by ABA sections and divisions in association governance. Opponents of the pro-choice policy had pushed for a referendum since the policy was adopted in Aug 1992. Proposals on greater participation in ABA governance were referred to the organization's Special Committee on Governance.
