Labor law; NLRB battles the courts

Article Abstract:

Judicial review of NLRB cases regarding the employee-supervisor distinction is discussed. The split in opinion between the board and the courts regarding determinations of supervisory status shows no signs of changing, and tips for the various parties on dealing with the agency's scrutiny are given.

Article Abstract:

Issues are discussed regarding the increased scrutiny over employer monitoring of employee e-mail signaled by NLRB decisions.The decisions apply to union and nonunion employees alike, and employers should consider them when drafting and enforcing workplace communications policies. Pratt & Whitney, issued by the NLRB's Division of Advice, is discussed at some length.

Labor law; NLRB decision in 'Sturgis.'

Article Abstract:

The NLRB ruling in M.B. Sturgis Inc. allowing employers to organize mixed units of temporary and full-time employees, even if neither consented to multiemployer bargaining, is discussed. Tips for employers on coping with the effects of the Sturgis decision are given.
