Managing the large complex case

Article Abstract:

The American Arbitration Association's (AAA) Large, Complex Case Program (LCCP) uses special techniques to manage claims in excess of $1 million. The most important step is to gain the confidence of disputants. Arbitrators are drawn from a short list of highly qualified individuals. The distinction between arbitration and litigation remains, but some litigation procedures are modified. Document discovery, witness summary and depositions are included. Written opinions are used. Arbitrators charge normal fees, and multiple arbitrators are discouraged.
