Mr. Wallach defends self in take 3 of Wedtech
Article Abstract:
E. Bob Wallach is appearing pro se in his third trial on federal fraud charges in connection with the Wedtech scandal. Wallach was convicted of racketeering in the first Wedtech trial and eventually succeeded in having that conviction overturned. In his third trial, Wallach is accused of conflict-of-interest violations in lobbying his friend Ed Meese, then attorney-general, on behalf of Wedtech and also for a government job. Wallach asserts that he had no expectation of a government job and knew lobbying and government employment were in conflict.

Is boxing's Don King down for the count?
Article Abstract:
Boxing promoter Don King is on trial in federal court in New York for wire fraud in connection with a supposedly altered contract that he used to collect $350,000 from Lloyd's of London. The money was allegedly to go to Julio Cesar Chavez to cover training expenses for a cancelled fight, but never got to him. King says he made the claim honestly and that the money was to repay him for loans he had made to Chavez. King's attorney, Peter E. Fleming, says the prosecution is due to King's identity and that federal criminal prosecution is unwarranted.
