New ALTA form expands coverage; the new American Land Title Association homeowner's policy uses simplified language and offers enhanced protection

Article Abstract:

The article discusses a new form approved by the American Land Title Ass'n, the Homeowner's Policy of Title Insurance to be used in one-to-four family residential properties. This 1998 product is designed to simplify one issued six years earlier The ALTA standardized its enhanced policy form while providing coverage improving that previously available to homeowners under title insurance products.

Call centers give rise to high-tech leasing terms; speed and volume are the key tenant concerns, leading to varied construction issues

Article Abstract:

Legal issues particular to call center rela property transactions are discussed. These include a need for speed in a transaction due to the rapid growth of the industry, for vcery sophisticated telecommunications and computer equipment to quickly direct calls to the first available service representative, and for 24-hour, seven-day-a-week usage.

Regulations issued towards the end of 2000 covering affirmative action programs for federal employees are discussed. Field offices of the Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs will have broad discretion to evaluate compliance.
