No legal holidays

Article Abstract:

Personal injury, divorce and bankruptcy lawyers offer hints for wintertime practice. The personal injury lawyer cautions that winter can mean a rise in cases due to the frequency of slip-and-fall accidents in the colder climates. The divorce lawyer cautions that holiday visitations can be a contentious matter, advises helping clients to be realistic in working problems out and having the telephone numbers of therapists treating clients available at home.Bankruptcy lawyers point out the importance of careful selection of the bankruptcy code provision to file under.

Damage control: fire's aftermath is lesson in how lawyers can avoid problems with clients

Article Abstract:

Dealing with an insurance company and related businesses after a home's destruction by fire reveals many lessons that apply to lawyers' interactions with clients. Most clients are confronted with a legal world they do not understand and where they have little control. It is their lawyer's responsibility to make sure they understand issues and feel comfortable asking questions, that they have realistic expectations and that delays are explained promptly and honestly.

Stress test; avoiding troublesome clients can make a lawyer's life easier

Article Abstract:

Divorce lawyers need to realize that family law can be an emotional specialty and take steps to weed out the most difficult clients during the initial interview. Clients to be avoided include those who go from one lawyer to another, vindictive clients, clients so emotionally upset that they seem in need of psychotherapy more than legal help and clients who expect to accomplish things too fast. Attorneys who avoid these types of clients will suffer less job stress.
