O.J. alums discuss pleasures, perils of punditry; seminar was part class reunion and part how-to course on TV lawyering

Article Abstract:

O.J. Simpson case alumnus Gerald F. Uelmen held a seminar at the Markkula Center on Applied Ethics of the Santa Clara University School of Law where other attorneys who gave television commentary on the Simpson case and some who helped defend Simpson gave presentations. Other well-known criminal defense lawyers also gave presentations. There were many proposals including a voluntary code of ethics for attorneys giving legal commentary to the press and that defense lawyers from the early stages of a case not give legal analysis on subsequent cases in which the client is involved.
