Pondering EDGAR's mysteries; users may find bugs in the SEC's new system

Article Abstract:

The SEC requires of some 3,000 public companies that they start using EDGAR, the new SEC electronic filing system, by the end of 1993, and that the remaining companies get phased in by May 1996. The public-private company interface between EDGAR and the provider of EDGAR services, CompuServe, however, lacks user-friendliness. Although EDGAR can be used without CompuServe, users need access to the latter's electronic mail system for current information about SEC filings. Attorneys should sign up early in order to learn the system before having to use it.

Feuerstein Systems' JFS Litigator's Notebook and Summation Legal Technologies' Summation Blaze.
