The costs of growth; partnership of European companies creates another legal publishing giant, worrying law librarians

Article Abstract:

The merger of the legal publishing companies Anglo-Dutch-owner Reed Elsevier and Dutch-owned Wolters Kluwer at the beginning of 1998 results in the largest worldwide supplier of technical and scientific information. Observers feel the deal is good for both companies because it couples Kluwer's secondary materials, including CD-ROMS, with Reed's many primary publications and its online databases Lexis-Nexis.
